Their Story

Giuliana & Nico: Where do I even start with this couple? First off, they are two of the kindest people I’ve worked with, second, their wedding colors, their family, their friends, even their other vendors were simply delightful. Seriously, this wedding was all smiles from start to finish.

Giuliana & Nico met while Nico’s dad was establishing a new church in Lawrenceville a few years ago. Nico’s sister invited Giuliana to visit with her, and there she met Nico. Honestly it didn’t surprise me at all that their meeting story involved family – I picked up on how much family means to them the very first time I met them.

Every wedding decision we chatted about was made with their families in mind. They both wanted every member of their family to be comfortable, honored, and to have a blast. And I immediately felt their family wanted the same for the two of them on wedding day. Several times I saw members from both sides of the family grab hands and say a prayer with one or both of them and saw countless moments of love and laughter. They reminded me a lot of my own family  – I may or may not have teared up on more than one occasion.

During the 6 weeks that Giuliana & I planned together, we sparked up an instant friendship. Every time we got on the phone for a planning call, I felt like I was helping an old BFF tie together her wedding plans with a beautiful bow. She and Nico did a wonderful job planning before I jumped in to help with coordination- they really made my job easy!

Wedding Day

On wedding day Giuliana wore a gorgeous, strapless, ballgown with her hair softly pulled back into a low up-do, topped with a shoulder length veil. The bridesmaids wore long, flowy dresses varying in color from light sage green to deep burgundy. The bouquets featured a mix of ivory and blush roses, burgundy and white mums, burgundy dahlias, and lots of silver dollar eucalyptus. Giuliana’s bouquet was the biggest and was cascading with extra greenery.

The groomsmen wore light grey suits with burgundy ties, while Nico stood out perfectly with his sage green tie and burgundy boutonniere.

After a morning of getting ready and relaxation at Nico’s mom’s house, the girls made their way over the The Thompson House to get Giuliana in her dress and to start taking pictures. The guys arrived shortly after, ready to jump in and start taking their pictures.

The Thompson House was all dressed up by the time they all arrived.

The Ceremony & Cocktail Hour

Once the bridesmaids and groomsmen pictures were all complete and all the vendors were in place, the wedding party tucked away as the guests started trickling in. In the quiet of the bridal suite, Giuliana and Nico had a private moment to themselves (without seeing each other) to say a prayer and to share their last words before they became husband and wife.

The ceremony was in the ballroom of The Thompson House and radiated elegance from floor to ceiling. With ivory tulle drapes, cascading floral arrangements, soft candle lighting, and an iron cross as the focal point, the setting could not have been more inviting.

Performed by Nico’s father, the ceremony was heart-felt and tear-jerking and ended with cheers that filled the entire house.

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktail hour throughout the courtyard and gardens, while family and formal photos were taken in the front yard.

During cocktail hour, our team, alongside the venue and catering teams, totally flipped the ballroom and created the most beautiful reception space. Dinner tables were topped with ivory linens and a mixture of gold candelabras, gold lanterns, and large glass candle vases – all of which were completed with gorgeous floral arrangements and votive candles. Giuliana and Nico’s sweetheart table, a small, white-washed farm table, was placed at the very front of the room and garnished with a spread of eucalyptus.

The Reception & Party

After cocktail hour and formal pictures came to an end, the guests made their way into the ballroom and found their seats. The wedding party was introduced and Giuliana and Nico enjoyed their first dance to “Coming Home” by Leon Burgess. The father-daughter and mother-son dances flowed nicely after, the food was blessed, and the buffet was opened.

While guests were finishing dinner, toasts by Best Man, Esau, Maid of Honor Lori, and Giuliana’s parents were made.  Post-toasts was the perfect time to cut into their stunning, three tiered cake.

After the wedding cake, the dance floor was officially opened and the crowd danced and sang until it was time for sparkler sendoff.

Everyone lined the driveway and the sparklers were lit (with a blow torch). The guests counted down until Giuliana & Nico ran through and hopped in their getaway car.

The day was filled with nothing but joy and love.

 Congratulations to Giuliana & Nico!
